So I’ve been busy. Not just with work (thank you Lord!) but with a passion project called BetterMe.Ph.
The brains behind BetterMe is Kris of OcMomInManila.Com, a dear friend and colleague whose motherhood journey and personal growth I have been privileged to observe through our many years of being friends. I am lucky enough to have been dragged into the BetterMe project along with her and I must say I have been the better for it. Not only has it allowed me to bond with like-minded people, women I call lifelong friends, but it has been a path to making better decisions. Better decisions not just for Basti, but for myself as well. (As long as it’s not choice of men. I still have to work on that)
The BetterMe editorial team are women, fellow bloggers, who have been a huge part of my life these past years of my motherhood. One thing’s for sure. We are not the “friendliest” or “sweetest” mothers on the block. I like them precisely because they don’t pretend to be anything other than who they are, faults, shortcomings, “katarayan”, “kasungitan” and all. It’s precisely that “katarayan” and “kasungitan” that is the BetterMe guarantee of sincerity, our testament that we are all really just works in progress.
The BetterMe website has a lot of facets to it, but there’s one particular area that is close to my heart. It’s a web series that Kris christened “Moms At Midnight” and entrusted the hosting to me. We released our first episode a while ago, and we’ve got all sorts of shows and topics on the production line. We’ve got parenting, shopping, travel and even, gulp, DATING up for discussion, and we’ll do it all with a glass or three of wine.
So please do watch, comment, tell me what you think and let me know also what would be a great “usapang lasing ng nanay” topic you would like to see on MAM. Looking forward to toasting with you!
